There are some Races that are built specifically for Minions, typically being below the scope of your typical warriors of the Dragon Universe. These Races have a few noteworthy traits:
- Lower Capabilities. The Attribute Scores of a Minion Race at Character Creation are notably lower than those of a typical DBU Character. Additionally, their Life Modifier and number of Skill Ranks from their Race tend to be quite low.
- Racial Traits. Usually, a Minion Race will have less Racial Traits than their comparative player races.
- Minion Sizes. At Character Creation, Minion Races are not bound by the usual selection of Size Categories (Small to Large) and each possess their own selection of Size Categories.
Aside from this, Minion Races tend to play like most other Races in the DBU system. Their purpose is primarily to allow for some more variety in Minions and to have simpler Characters for the ARC to drop down when necessary.
Though, Minion Races do have one area where they may outshine a player race: being Minions. A Minion Race has the following differences to standard Minions:
- Life Points. A Minion Race sets their Life Points to 1/2 rather than 1/4 when made as a Minion.
- Racial Traits. A Minion Race maintains all of their Race’s Racial Traits, instead of having to choose between them.
Playing a Minion Race. While they exist primarily to be Minions, some people may wish to play as a Minion Race themselves. If they do, however, they’ll notice that the Minion Races are typically weaker on average than the other Races. To make up for this, it’s highly suggested that they are given the Minion No Longer Factor, representing them being a unique member of their otherwise more subservient species.
Minion No More is a unique Factor that does not replace Racial Traits, but instead adds onto them.
