Gaining a Battle Jacket. An ARC can grant you access to a Battle Jacket as a reward, or you can gain it through two other main methods:
- Character Creation: You can gain a Battle Jacket through Character Creation, as part of your Gear Kit.
- Crafting: If you have enough time and resources (decided by your ARC), you may attempt to create a Battle Jacket. Make a Craft (Vehicles) Skill Check. You obtain a Battle Jacket if you meet the Craft Requirements for any Jacket Grade below, with the Jacket Grade of the Battle Jacket being equal to the highest Jacket Grade you passed.
Upon gaining a Battle Jacket through these methods, you gain its Blueprint (to gain a blueprint of a Battle Jacket gained through other means, you must obtain the Basic Item).
Blueprint Basic Item
Battle Jacket Blueprint: A Blueprint to a Battle Jacket, allowing for its recreation.
–Craft DC: Varies (decided by the Craft DC for the Battle Jacket itself)
–Effects: Upon gaining this Blueprint, record the name of your Battle Jacket. It can be used to recreate the Battle Jacket, even if it wasn’t destroyed, allowing it to be perfectly copied – including any Super Modules. Possessing a Battle Jacket Blueprint allows you to know all of its Weak Points (see — Called Shots and Battle Jackets).
You can create a copy of a Battle Jacket Blueprint you possess by making a Craft (Vehicles) Skill Check while you have the appropriate time and resources. The Craft DC for creating a copy is the same as the Battle Jacket the Blueprint is for.
Jacket Grade. Jacket Grades are, in a sense, a way to represent a better designed Battle Jacket. Each Battle Jacket has a Jacket Grade, which decides how many Jacket Modules a Battle Jacket possesses and has a listed Difficulty Category to craft a Battle Jacket of that Jacket Grade:
| Jacket Grade | Craft Difficulty Category | # of Jacket Modules |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Qualified | 1 |
| Advanced | Expert | 2 |
| Masterpiece | Master | 3 |
| Magnum Opus | Grandmaster | 4 |
If a Battle Jacket’s Jacket Grade is increased, it immediately gains a number of Jacket Modules equal to the difference in Jacket Modules allowed by its previous Jacket Grade and its current Jacket Grade. For example, if a Basic Battle Jacket is improved to be a Masterpiece, then it gains 2 Jacket Modules.
Battle Jacket Creation. Below is a step-by-step process for Battle Jacket Creation in the DBU system:
- Step 1) Select a Jacket Frame.
- Step 2) Select your Battle Jacket’s Size Category.
- Step 3) Select a Jacket Engine.
- Step 4) Select a number of Jacket Modules (the number is decided by your Jacket Grade) from the list below.
- Step 5) Create Signature Techniques and Auras for your Battle Jacket using your Jacket’s Technique Points (see — Jacket Tier).
- Step 6) Calculate your Battle Jacket’s Life Points, Ki Points, and Capacity.
- Step 7) Name your Battle Jacket.
Battle Jacket Techniques. While piloting a Battle Jacket, you cannot use your own Signature Techniques or Auras. At Battle Jacket Creation, a Battle Jacket possesses 20(JT) Technique Points.
When a Battle Jacket’s JT permanently increases, it gains 20 additional Technique Points for each JT gained to spend on improving or gaining new Signature Techniques or Auras.
Battle Jacket Life. As with Characters, Battle Jackets possess Maximum Life Points and current Life Points. Any Damage received while piloting a Battle Jacket, unless through a Called Shot to the Pilot, will reduce the Battle Jacket’s Life Points instead of the Pilot’s. To calculate a Battle Jacket’s Life Points, it fundamentally depends on their Jacket Level:
- At Jacket Level 1, a Battle Jacket has a Maximum Life Point value of 50.
- For every Jacket Level obtained after the first, increase a Battle Jacket’s Maximum Life Points by 5.
Battle Jacket Ki. As with Characters, Battle Jackets possess Maximum Ki Points and current Ki Points. Any usage of Ki Points uses a Battle Jacket’s Ki Points instead of the Pilot’s.To calculate a Battle Jacket’s Ki Points, it fundamentally depends on their Jacket Level:
- At Jacket Level 1, a Battle Jacket has a Maximum Ki Point value of 30.
- For every Jacket Level obtained after the first, increase a Battle Jacket’s Maximum Ki Points by 8.
Battle Jacket Capacity. As with Characters, Battle Jackets possess a Max Capacity and a current Capacity. Any spending of Ki Points reduces the Battle Jacket’s Capacity at the usual rate. Calculating a Battle Jacket’s Max Capacity is very simple:
- Battle Jackets have their Max Capacity be equivalent to that gained through Power Levels, using their Jacket Level to decide. For example, a Battle Jacket with a Jacket Level of 3 has the Max Capacity of a Power Level 3 Character: 28.
Jacket Frames
Jacket Frames are the chassis of the Battle Jacket, forming its general shape and appearance. They serve to reflect its inherent capabilities and grant some concrete elements to its usage. There are 3 Jacket Frames:
- Assault. This Jacket Frame is an all-rounder, neither relying on evasion nor durability.
- Sentinel. This Jacket Frame is heavily resilient, able to withstand most types of attack.
- Mobile. This Jacket Frame is lighter than the others, enabling for more dynamic movement at the cost of overall durability.
Each Jacket Frame gives different base values for your Battle Jacket’s Awareness, Defense Value, Soak Value, Damage Reduction – replacing your values while you are piloting this Battle Jacket. Additionally, each Jacket Frame grants a Unique Jacket Module (see — Jacket Modules). All of this is shown on the table below:
| Jacket Frame | Awareness | Defense Value | Soak Value | Damage Reduction | Unique Jacket Module |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assault | 3+1(T) | 6+2(T) | 4+2(T) | 1+1(T) | All-Round Frame |
| Sentinel | 5+1(T) | 5+1(T) | 6+2(T) | 2+2(T) | Heavy Frame |
| Mobile | 1+1(T) | 7+3(T) | 2+2(T) | 1 | High-Speed Frame |
Jacket Size. Each Battle Jacket has their own Size Category. To Pilot a Battle Jacket, you must be at least 1 Size Category lower than that Battle Jacket. The values (such as Speed, Might, and their Defense/Soak Values) of your Battle Jacket are influenced by its Size Category, as a normal Character would be.
A Battle Jacket’s Size Category begins at Enormous.
Jacket Engines
Jacket Engines are the ‘heart’ of a Battle Jacket, representing their output. Each Jacket Engine gives different base values for your Battle Jacket’s Haste, Speed, and Might – which replace yours while piloting this Battle Jacket.
| Jacket Engine | Haste | Normal Speed | Boosted Speed | Might | Unique Jacket Module |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power | 1+1(T) | 2+1(T) | 6+1(T) | 7+3(T) | Power to the Frame |
| Balance | 3+1(T) | 4+2(T) | 8+2(T) | 6+2(T) | Balanced Output |
| Speed | 5+1(T) | 8+2(T) | 12+2(T) | 5+1(T) | Power to the Thrusters |
