The size of your character is important and can affect your Aptitudes. You choose a Size Category at Character Creation, but various effects can allow you to change your Size Category.
Size Categories
Each Size Category gives certain benefits and penalties, which are listed on the Size Table below:
| Size | Melee Range | Speed Modifier | Defense Value | Soak Modifier | Squares Occupied |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | Adjacent | -6 | +3(T) | -3(T) | 1 |
| Tiny | Adjacent | -3 | +2(T) | -2(T) | 1 |
| Small | Adjacent | +0 | +1(T) | -1(T) | 1 |
| Medium | Adjacent | +0 | 0(T) | 0(T) | 1 |
| Large | Adjacent | +0 | -1(T) | +1(T) | 1 |
| Enormous | Adjacent +1 Squares | +3 | -2(T) | +2(T) | 2×2 |
| Gigantic | Adjacent +3 Squares | +6 | -3(T) | +3(T) | 4×4 |
| Colossal | Adjacent +6 Squares | +10 | -5(T) | +5(T) | 7×7 |

Size penalties can NOT reduce any Aptitude lower than 2.
Skills at Different Sizes. Your Size Category can affect your Skills. In particular, 2 Skills are predominantly affected by your Size:
- Stealth. For every Size Category you are above Medium, reduce your Stealth Skill Checks by 1. For every Size Category you are below Medium, increase your Stealth Skill Checks by 1.
- Intimidate. For every Size Category you are above Medium, increase your Intimidation Skill Checks by 1. For every Size Category you are below Medium, reduce your Intimidation Skill Checks by 1.
Combat at Different Sizes
Engaging opponents who are at different sizes can dramatically influence combat and change how everyone involved fights. Below are the various mechanics that are applied to characters of different sizes:
Gigantic Grip. If you make a Grapple Check, increase the Dice Score of your Grapple Check by 1(T) (max. 3(T)) for every Size Category you are larger than the opposing Character. Additionally, in a Grapple as the Grappler, if you are 3+ Size Categories larger than the Grappled, you do not gain the Guard Down Combat Condition from that Grapple.
Giant Strike. If your Size Category is Gigantic, all of your Attacking Maneuvers that lack an AoE gain a Minor Sphere AoE unless you are targeting another Character who is of the Gigantic Size Category or higher (Giant Magnitude is not applied to this AoE). If your Size Category is Colossal, your Attacking Maneuvers gain a Standard Sphere AoE instead.
Giant Magnitude. For every Size Category after Large, increase the Magnitude of any AoE Attacking Maneuvers you have by 1.
Expanding Blow. If your Size Category is Enormous or larger and you target a Square that you occupy with a Sphere AoE, that AoE expands from every single Square that you occupy.
Longer Sight. For every Size Category greater than Large you are, increase the number of Squares until an Opponent is at Long Range by 2.
Punching Down. If you hit a Character with an Attacking Maneuver that is 2+ Size Categories smaller than you, increase the amount of Damage they receive by 1d6(T).
Punching Up. If you target a Character with an Attacking Maneuver that lacks an AoE and that target is 2+ Size Categories larger than you, you suffer no penalties from using the Called Shot Maneuver and you increase the Wound Roll of that Attacking Maneuver by 1(T) for every Size Category they are larger than you.
Size and Movement. If a Character’s effect moves you, apply these different effects depending on if your Size Category is lower or greater than that Character:
- Lower. Increase the amount of Squares you move by 1(bT) for each Size Category smaller than that Opponent you are (this cannot increase the amount of Squares you would move by more than 3(bT)).
- Greater. Reduce the amount of Squares you move by 1(bT) for each Size Category larger than that Opponent you are (this cannot reduce the amount of Squares you would move by more than 3(bT)).
Slip Through. If your Size Category is 2+ Size Categories smaller than your Ally, you may enter and occupy a Square that they are occupying.
Tiny Target. When you use the Rapid Movement Maneuver, if you were in the Melee Range of an Opponent that is 2+ Size Categories larger than you, make a Skill Clash (Acrobatics/Stealth vs Perception) against those Opponent(s). If you win, you become Hidden from that Opponent(s).
